Adaptive driver and right-front-passenger air bags
Engineered to deploy in front impacts from the dash and steering wheel. The front air bags respond to sensors that register the impact forces and safety belt usage and adjust deployment force to suit the situation.
Aerodynamic drag
Consists of air pressure and surface friction. Streamlined aerodynamic designs help the air close more smoothly around the car and reduce pressure drag. This is important to improve fuel efficiency and help a car achieve a high top speed.
Aerodynamic headlamps
The 9-3's distinctive headlamps, curved to follow the front aesthetic, feature distinctive "eyebrow" lighting strips and are designed to help optimize illumination for safer night driving. On the 9-5, these lights feature the delay "follow-me-home" function and are designed to help maximize illumination while driving.
All-season tires
Tires designed to provide good traction for a wide variety of road conditions, including rain, mud, and snow.
Anti-lock Braking System
Designed to help drivers maintain steering control by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on most slippery or dry surfaces. Dynamic rear proportioning was developed to help distribute brake force between the front and rear wheels, depending on how the car is loaded. This also helps reduce stopping distances, particularly when carrying heavy loads.
Aspiration
Non-boosted engines are typically referred to as normally or naturally aspirated meaning that atmospheric pressure provides the air pressure to the intake system.
Automatic all-wheel drive
A type of 4WD system that continuously modulates torque distribution, allowing all four wheels to be powered at all times.
-
Compression ratio
Measurement of how much the air/fuel mixture is compressed inside an engine cylinder. If compressed to 1/10 of its original volume, the compression ratio is 10 to 1.
-
Displacement
Volume displaced by the pistons moving from the bottom to top position during combustion. It acts as a measure of engine potential.
Driver Information Center
An information display that includes: the outside temperature, an oil-life monitor system that indicates when to change your oil, and various vehicle warning messages such as “trunk ajar” and “low fuel.”
Dual zone automatic climate control (ACC)
Allows both the driver- and right-front passenger to set two independent temperature preferences. Once set at a specified temperature, the cabin is maintained at that temperature, making constant readjustment unnecessary.
Dual-stage driver and right-front passenger air bags* with Passenger Sensing System
Dual-stage frontal air bags utilize sensors to help detect the severity of a crash, then determines if the air bags should be deployed and whether a full or less-than-full amount of inflation is to be used. In less severe crashes or when the seats are in the full-forward position, the air bags will deploy at less than full level. The Passenger Sensing System automatically switches the right-front passenger frontal air bag on or off based on the passenger's weight and the type of pressure on the seat.
*Always use safety belts and the correct child restraint for your child's age and size. Even in vehicles equipped with the Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat of any vehicle equipped with an active frontal air bag. See the Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution
Developed to help distribute brake force between the front and rear wheels depending on how the car is loaded. EBD is designed to help reduce stopping distances, particularly when carrying heavy loads.
Electronic Stability Program
Compares the movement of the car with steering-wheel inputs. If there is any tendency to slide or skid, the system is designed to apply the brakes to one or more of the wheels and, if necessary, reduce the engine power. Includes the TCS anti-spin function. If desired, the ESP can be switched off.
European Delivery
Delivery option that allows Saab customers to take delivery of their new vehicle in one of sixteen designated European cities.
-
Front Suspension
An integral part of the total suspension system designed to keep the front axle and wheels in their proper position under the car body, typically of independent type.

-
Leather-appointed seats
Soft and supple small-grain leather-appointed upholstery.
Load-Shift Protection
Helps reduce the risk of passenger injury. Its hard backing and positive latching system are designed to help prevent cargo in the trunk from moving forward into the passenger compartment during a frontal collision.
Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren (LATCH) in second row seating positions
Engineered to secure today's child-safety seats, as well as next-generation child-restraint equipment.
-
Maximum boost pressure
The additional amount of pressure supplied to the intake system produced by a turbocharger or blower.
Maximum torque
The measure of a force-producing tension and rotation around an axis.
